This field trip is definitely my favorite! Being able to photograph a variety of animals in a beautiful location is what really makes this trip the best. I am very happy with how all of my photos turned out and I think it is cool to see how my photography and editing skills have improved. I brought my telephoto lens on this trip so I really wanted to utilize it and try to get some close ups as well as some action shots from farther away. The long lens allowed me to get photos while I was standing farther away from the animals. The lighting was perfect for taking photos and I was able to use fast shutter speeds and lower ISO settings. Overall I think that this was the perfect way to end the year with one last fantastic field trip.

My aim for the flower photos was to use a shallow depth of field and really capture the bright colours that they had. I really did not have to do much in light room to edit these photos because they were already well lit and full of colour. This photo was one that I took pretty quickly without much setup or planning. I brightened up the photo in light room by increasing the exposure and playing with more saturated colours. I really wanted to get a nice landscape image of the lake with some more levels and colour variation and this photo was my favorite. I brightened up the colours and adjusted the lighting in various parts. I really liked this driftwood-like tree stump and decided to do a closer image of it. When editing it in light room I tried to bring out the blue and orange hues in the water and wood to make it a more complimentary coloured photo. Final ReflectionOverall I really enjoyed this field trip. Travelling to several different locations kept me constantly trying different things and really pushed my creativity. From the close ups of the flowers to the lake landscapes, I was able to enjoy a wide variety of scenery to challenge myself with. The only thing I struggled with at the lake was trying to get photos without other students walking into the frame. Despite that minor inconvenience I thoroughly enjoyed this trip.
Despite the wintery weather and little lighting, I was able to capture some photos that I am very pleased with. All of the photos I posted were taken with a tripod and long shutter speed as well as varying apertures, throughout the hour we were there I played around with the aperture and I am happy with how my photos turned out. In regards to editing I prefer to alter photos as little as possible (with exceptions) because I had pretty good lighting and crisp photos already the changes I made in light room are very slight.
This photo was taken with symmetry in mind. I was sitting on the bus trying to defrost and as I was looking through my photos I realized I needed a symmetry photo. I am very pleased with how this photo turned out; it plays off of the basis of symmetry but remains slightly unique and the black and white looks great with it. The contrast and light that this photo has is what really makes the black and white look great. I love this photo because of all of the lines and angles it has. I thought the power lines were a perfect and simple opportunity to practice asymmetrical balance and the darkness against the light sky adds the level of contrast that makes the lines pop. It is simple yet has a level of movement and detail that makes it a very interesting photo. Overall ReflectionOver all I am very pleased with how this field trip turned out. I was able to capture some photos that I am very happy with and it was a very productive and enjoyable block. I was definitely underdressed and the cold was the downer of the trip however the final product I got and the learning and creativity boosting I got out of it made it worth it.
